Round table: Bio-based materials essential for transition to climate neutrality

In relation to the European Commission’s Long Term Strategy, LTS, Swedish Forest Industries Federation is holding a round table discussion on the role of material substitution in climate change mitigation.

At this round table, we aim for a passionate discussion on why material substitution must have a leading role in the societal transformation  we have ahead of us. Otherwise, the European Union will not achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Researchers, policy makers and organizations will discuss concerns, best practices and inspiring examples. We offer you an effective and on point chance to update your knowledge and network and to take away recommendations useful to your future work related to the LTS. Anna Holmberg, Director of Energy Policy at Swedish Forest Industries Federation, will be moderating the discussions.

Key-note speaker is Dr. Peter Holmgren, Ph.D. in forestry and former Director General of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR). He will share research findings around the massive potential of forests and forest products in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals as well as the Paris Agreement for limiting global warming, particularly through materials substitution.
